Here are a few of my thoughts from last night's TNA Impact Wrestling episode. I only saw the first hour, as I turned it off at 8:00 pm. More can be read at NODQ.com by yours truly...
AUSTIN ARIES
Remember when this man was on fire in July? Remember how he
had all the momentum in the world? I have not been watching much of TNA lately, but what happened? He barely feels like champion. It looks like Aces and Eights
injured him last week. Is that supposed to hurt his title run? Is that why this
man hardly wrestles anymore? Really, what happened to Aries? Somebody let me
know. He was AMAZING a few months ago. Now, he is just "there."
HOGAN/STING
That leads me to my next point. Sting and Hulk Hogan
are, ONCE AGAIN, the focus of the show. Why am I not surprised? This is what
happens when I take a few weeks off of watching TNA. The old timers are back in
charge and running things. For the millionth time, get these two out of the main
event scene. The 7,000 PPV buy rates and 1.0 ratings show that they are NOT
worth the attention anymore in 2012.
STORM vs. RVD
This was a
good match. I don't care for Rob. Storm is somebody with all the potential in
the world, but as mentioned before - his steam has also dropped big time in the
past few months. Whenever I watch, it seems his crowd pops are less and less. I
understand it is the dreaded Impact Zone, but this man was treated as a "GOD"
less than a year ago. Now, he is also just "there." Maybe he will re-gain his
momentum before Bound for Glory?
ODB/RAYNE/EY
What a mess. The
blonde referee was out there to do nothing. I hope she is worth that paycheck.
Looks like yet another wasted signing by TNA just because she was in WWE. Maybe
they should bring Eric the Midget on from Howard Stern? Oh wait...oops!
In any event. ODB defeated Rayne in 30 seconds. The rest of the ladies
were nowhere to be seen. That must be one happy locker room. Eric Young returned
with chicken and beer. He and ODB kissed, while he stripped to his underwear.
Yes, the Knockout Tag Team champions (still a joke) are back together. As much
goodwill as TNA ever builds up, it is segments like this that will always make
look terrible. Sad but true!
After that, I turned the show off. From
what I read, the second hour was MUCH better. That is great news. The matches
were solid. Plus, there was another Aces and Eights ending to the show. Sounds
intriguing enough. However, I was not around to see it. Once again, TNA does
great things, but it is buried under a big pile of cow manure. Such a shame
too...
